What you should know about speeches

When did presidents and politicians stop writing their own speeches?
Presidents have relied on speech writers since George Washington received help from Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton on his state papers and farewell address. Andrew Jackson’s veto messages to Congress were drafted by his attorney general. Abraham Lincoln wrote his own speeches and documents, including the Gettysburg Address and Emancipation Proclamation. Woodrow Wilson, who had written books and articles as a professor, also wrote his own speeches. Franklin Roosevelt used several speech writers, including playwright Robert Sherwood. Dwight Eisenhower used journalist Emmet Hughes. Most of John F. Kennedy’s speeches were drafted by his counsel, Theodore Sorensen; other Kennedy speech writers included historian Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., Ambassador to India John Kenneth Galbraith, and White House aide Richard Goodwin. Ronald Reagan relied heavily on Peggy Noonan, one of the first women speech writers in the White House.
Where can I find good or great motivational speeches?
Watch the movie “Scent of a woman” and that speech Al Pacino says at the end in front of the student body is by far one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard. Just a good heartful speech that comes from experience and the heart. Martin Luther King had some pretty motivational speeches
Why do people always laugh when i give speeches?
You need to address your speeches with more leadership, by learning to keep eye contact and standing straight, speaking out to the back of the room, while speaking to the class.

Rather than read a spiel you have written and doing hand actions, repeating lines you have already read out, or twisting your body and/or swinging your arms while you speak.

Learn to do what I said, and people will listen, rather than laugh. Talk with your English or drama teachers to assist you to learn to do public speaking. It takes practice, once you’ve got it together. You can walk on any stage with confidence and give a speech, people will listen too.

Ignore the hecklers, or students talking during your speech, or embarrass them by asking them to come up to address the class. Since they seem to have something to say by them repeatably interrupting you. Doing this, watch how quick they shut up, by showing you have full control.
Do motivating speeches really help in a football game?
They get you pumped up, and energize you no matter what condition your body is in. They help you overcome physical disadvantages and get you in the best emotional position for the game you’re about to play. Emotional drive is probably the most important thing on the field and is the ultimate x-factor that decides every NFL game. Talent has a lot to do with it, but if the other team is in a mental state ready to overcome anything and the other team can’t match that, the more mentally prepared and emotionally pumped up team will win every time. Otherwise the term “upset” would be foreign to all of us.
How do I get over my fear of public speeches?
The best way to not be afraid is to know what you are talking about.
I hated speaking in public as a kid and on until adulthood.
After becoming an engineer I was forced to lead meetings and the first few times it bothered me a lot.
Then I realized that as long as I know the Subject that I am talking about it doesn’t matter who is in the room there is nothing they can ask me that i cannot answer about my topic. If a question does come up I don’t know the answer to I write it down and tell them I will get back to them with an email or phone call. I still don’t like speaking to a group in general but it’s not that difficult.

The best way to make yourself comfortable ahead of time is to practice what you intend to say. In the classroom you do not have to answer questions most of the time, you just have to say it.
To make that easier you should read what you intend to say two or three times before you actually have to give the report/speech. You can also try speaking to yourself in front of a mirror and watching yourself. this way you can help eliminate some of the things that bother you like fidgeting or what to do with your arms/hands. remember not to mumble and try not to say words like um and uh. if you have a paper to read from, you can look at the paper read two to five sentences then look up as you finish your third to fifth sentence while looking around the room and talking. If you teacher is in front of you, make sure to look at her but as for the rest of the class look up just slightly higher than their heads if they make you nervous and your teacher will think you are doing a fine job.
What is the importance of learning how to/practicing giving speeches in high school
I feel that giving speeches is a great way to improve public speaking skills, as well as improving confidence when speaking publicly. also, you’d have to write the speech in first place, so i think it’s safe to say that it also improves your writing and researching skills, all of which are important in the business world, especially now since the workplace is as competitive as ever. It teaches communication skills and how to address and project your voice to large crowds and small and how to use hand gestures. I would practice in a mirror. Other than that a good speech maker is a good leader.
